A historic manor house set on sprawling grounds in the stunning Yorkshire Dales
Located on the southern tip of the Yorkshire Dales, The Hall at Bolton Abbey offers a quintessentially English countryside escape. Luxury meets nature at this artfully restored 14th-century gatehouse surrounded by lush moors and ancient woodland, which overlooks the 12th-century Bolton Priory Church and its ethereal ruins.
Set on 28,000 acres in the Bolton Abbey estate, The Hall boasts beautiful, manicured lawns and carefully-tended walled gardens. Guests can take relaxing strolls through the grounds, enjoy fly-fishing in the tree-lined river, or try their hand at the classic garden sport of croquet.
This Grade II listed building has walls steeped in history and tradition, having hosted poets, painters and pageantry over the centuries. With parts of the property dating from the 14th Century and owned by the same family since the 18th Century, the Hall is filled with antiques and ancestral art.
Wood-panelled walls, ornate ceilings, and plush furnishings throughout the cosy living rooms create a beautiful, stately home feel. The impressive dining room features a high, vaulted ceiling, brick archways and a crackling fireplace, creating the perfect atmosphere for elegant dinner parties.
Sustainability is a focus of the estate, so guests will enjoy bespoke menus showcasing organic produce from the estate’s river, moors, and well-tended kitchen garden.
After dinner, guests can enjoy a game of pool in the billiards room, retire to the drawing rooms for a snifter of whiskey, or curl up with a book in the cosy snug.
The 12 well-appointed bedrooms sleep up to 22 guests in total. Each room is thoughtfully presented with traditional wallpaper and pretty bedding. Most feature double beds and en-suite facilities, though there are two twin and three single rooms, offering flexibility for families or those travelling with their own staff.
With its beautiful location, elegant interiors, and impressive history, The Hall at Bolton Abbey is perfect for those seeking a memorable luxury holiday in the English countryside.
