Villa Il Santo is set on one of the most beautiful hills of Chianti, overlooking sweeping valleys. It offers breathtaking scenes of the countryside with tantalising glimpses of the towers of San Gimignano.
The garden is very pretty, with lawns adorned with roses, jasmine, local plants and flowers. Guests can enjoy a dip in the infinity pool before relaxing on surrounding sun loungers.
Throughout the grounds are several different areas for outdoor living and dining, including a pergola-shaded lounge and a well-equipped barbecue area.
Originally built in the year 1000 AD, the villa has been beautifully refurbished with modern facilities to offer a maximum level of comfort. It is comprised of two separate buildings – The Old Tower and The Hay Barn – connected via a galleried walkway. There is also a separate pool house.
Both the Old Tower and the Hay Barn have been completely restored with old brick floors and reclaimed wooden ceilings, showcasing the best of contemporary Italian design. The vaulted dining room is complete with a huge ancient oak dining table. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, including a large wine fridge.
The bedrooms, which are spread across the three buildings, are all spacious and dotted with a mix of modern furniture and beautiful antiques. All have plush double beds and en-suite facilities, with the largest bedrooms also boasting private sitting areas with fireplaces.

About the area
Villa Il Santo is situated in the heart of Tuscany, in the renowned wine region of Chianti. It is just outside the town of Barberino Val d’Elsa, at the very edge of the historic hamlet of Petrognano, which has stood for over a thousand years.
Beautiful Florence is around an hour’s drive away, whilst Pisa can be reached within an hour-and-a-half, making them ideal for city day trips.
