Private island with four beach cabanas, infinity swimming pool and fine dining restaurant

With its white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and stunning sunsets, Calala Island is a true private paradise. The island lies in the Pearl Cays of the Caribbean Sea, just off the coast of Nicaragua; the area is known locally as the NiCaribbean.

With just five private suites available on the 9.5 acre island and over 25 staff members on hand, a stay on Calala is the ultimate barefoot luxury experience.

All buildings on the island are constructed in traditional Caribbean style with palm-thatched roofs, hand-crafted dark wood furniture, and lighting and soft furnishings created by local artisans. The resort aims to be environmentally-friendly with solar power, and recycling, wastewater and composting programs in place. In addition, all huts are slightly raised on stilts so as not to disturb the critically-endangered hawksbill sea turtles nesting on the island.

There is a wealth of activities on the island to keep everyone entertained; guests can take a relaxing dip in the infinity-edge pool and enjoy cocktails at the swim-up bar, try paddle boarding and kayaking, or take a fishing trip with a local fisherman. Children can enjoy pizza making sessions, pirate treasure hunts, and other garden games.

Just a 5 minute paddle away is Little Calala Island, a tiny islet with a sole umbrella, perfect for a romantic picnic. Visitors can explore the shipwreck on its shoreline or snorkel the surrounding reefs.

For true relaxation, the island boasts a spa in a secluded location, nestled amongst the mangroves, which offers over a dozen different pampering treatments.

With all meals included and evening menus changing daily, guests can enjoy gastronomic feasts featuring seafood caught earlier the same day, fresh produce from the island’s organic gardens, along with seasonal specialities. All meals are cooked up by the island’s Michelin-trained chef, though guests can choose between a romantic meal on their private veranda, a poolside burger, or a fine dining experience in the island’s private restaurant. Weekly events include an extravagant beach barbecue and an eight-course fine dining tasting evening.

Each of the five beachfront suites boasts a private veranda perfect for peaceful breakfasts, and a secluded palapa (thatched shelter) with a double hammock and seating where guests can relax on their own private stretch of beach. The suites feature luxurious king-size canopy beds, en-suite bathrooms with semi-al fresco rain showers, and comfortable sitting areas.

For those looking for a luxury break filled with gourmet cuisine, exciting activities, and true relaxation, all in complete privacy, Calala Island is the perfect choice.
