La Chartreuse de Cos d’Estournel
8 Bedrooms — 16 Guests
An opulent private home, rich in history and surrounded by vineyards in the Bordeaux region
La Chartreuse de Cos d’Estournel is a stunning residence immersed in the French countryside. Just outside of Bordeaux in the Gironde region, it provides a luxurious home-from-home for up to 16 discerning guests.
As the private home of Michel Reybier, owner of Chateau Cos d’Estournel, the immaculately-maintained property lies at the heart of the vineyard estate of his renowned chateau. Crafted from yellow sandstone, the residence reflects the rich history of the estate, featuring typical Medoc architecture with three towering pagodas and a triumphal arch.
The manicured grounds surrounding the property offer the perfect place to soak up the French sunshine; there are sun loungers surrounding the large outdoor swimming pool, and a furnished terrace ideal for relaxing and enjoying a morning coffee or evening aperitif.
On entering through the grand doors, guests are greeted by opulent interiors perfectly blending traditional French and Sino-Indian influences. From the ancient Indian doors and Chinese frescoes to the gold-leaf chandeliers and hanging silk, the design is elegant and unique in equal measure.
The main drawing room features a stunning fireplace surrounded by plush sofas, and leads through to the well-stocked library, perfect for quiet moments of reflection. More Indian influences are apparent here, with imposing carved wooden doors leading from room to room.
Sumptuous feasts are enjoyed in the elegant, frescoed dining room and each gourmet meal prepared by the private chef is expertly paired with wines from the estate. Guests can enjoy a full tour of the expansive wine cellar and vat room, and enjoy tastings straight from the vat or barrel.
Those keeping up with their fitness can make use of the fully-equipped gym or enjoy the indoor swimming pool, before a relaxing session in the hammam or massage room.
Each of the six bedrooms and two suites are well-appointed and decorated in a neutral colour palette, with soothing accents of colour. Every room has its own en-suite bathroom, whilst the suites also boast private balconies with beautiful garden views.
Featuring all the amenities one could wish for, La Chartreuse de Cos d’Estournel is a wine connoisseur’s dream destination. With luxury and tranquillity in abundance, and a homely yet luxurious feel, it is the perfect choice relaxing holidays with loved ones, unique corporate getaways, and elegant events.
