About the area
Florence is an open-air exhibit of art and culture. It is known worldwide as the heart of the Renaissance and the home of fine art and literature and it houses some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world. Signature examples include Fillippo Brunelleschi’s “Duomo” and Michelangelo’s timeless statue of “David,” arguably the most recognisable and widely known image of Western culture. The romantic “Ponte Vecchio” is one of Europe’s last fully stone bridges & then there is Giotto’s bell tower & the churches of Santa Maria Novella & Santa Croce.
It is worth visiting world famous museums such as the Uffizi, Accademia & the Barghello and wandering the vast & varied art collection in the Pitti Palace.
When visitors grow wary of art, churches and culture, they can spend a day at the beautiful Boboli Gardens or climb the hill of San Miniato al Monte to capture a timeless look at the city.
Florence gave rise to luminaries such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo & Dante Aligheri- their impact changed our visual and literary world forever. Visiting Florence makes visitors feel where it all began.
