Set in the heart of the Umbrian countryside, Convento Viandante del Cielo enjoys a secluded location overlooking Lake Trasimeno. With 10 bedrooms, the property comfortably sleeps up to 20 guests.
Once a Capuchin convent, this 16th-century property has been lovingly restored and transformed into a stunning villa under the guidance of filmmaker George Lucas. Both indoors and out, there are modern facilities creating a truly relaxing and luxurious holiday home. Guests can arrive in style with a helicopter landing space within the estate’s walled gardens.
There are plenty of beautiful spaces amongst the 60 acres of landscaped gardens where guests can enjoy al fresco meals, or relax in the sunshine whilst taking in the stunning countryside and lake views.
Ideal for a relaxing stroll, the grounds are home to olive groves, tidy vineyards, grapevine-covered trellises, and a forest reserve, perfect for truffle hunting in season.
Guests of all ages will enjoy the on-site sports and recreation amenities including a 20 metre swimming pool, tennis court, 7-hole “shoe-golf” course, croquet lawn, bocce pitch, badminton net, and basketball hoop. There is also a beautiful on-site chapel for spiritual reflection.
The villa is set over three floors and offers multiple living areas including a main sitting room with fireplace, a piano room with grand piano, a games room with billiards, shuffleboard, and card tables, a cinema room with film library and PlayStation, and a cosy reading room. Guests can enjoy wine tasting in the cellar, and relax in the spa which includes a sauna, hammam, and massage treatment room.
Grand meals can be taken in the separate library building; the galleried library is home to thousands of volumes as well as an opulent dining room seating up to 40 guests. Traditional Umbrian feasts will be cooked up by the professional kitchen staff, though guests of all ages are welcome to help out and learn some local dishes for themselves.
Each of the well-appointed bedrooms features an en-suite bathroom, Satellite TV with entertainment unit, an iPod dock and sound system, and individually-controlled heating and air conditioning. Many of the bedrooms boast their own private living rooms or sitting areas, several with cosy fireplaces.
